KUYA: NEON CHANT — 空也 // 六体解放

Six voices. One moment.

Inspired by the statue of the Buddhist monk Kūya, KUYA // Sixfold Liberation is a timing game set in a neon cyber realm.

Golden Buddhas emerge from Kūya’s mouth on an extending tongue. Cut it when exactly six golden Buddhas are present, and watch them fall and run toward freedom.

How to play

• Click or tap the play area, select Cut tongue, or press Space to cut.
• Release exactly six golden Buddhas to advance to the next round.
• Cut at any other count, or let a seventh Buddha appear, and the game ends.
• The first three rounds move at a steady speed. From round four onward, the speed varies.
• Fluorescent pink statues may also appear from round four. They do not count toward the six Buddhas. Ignore them when counting—they shatter into dust after a successful cut.

Keep the chant alive

Release as many Buddhas as you can. Your best score is saved locally on your device, and Kūya has a special message for you when a record-breaking run ends.

At game over, create a result image to copy, save, or share on X / Twitter. The image represents your liberated Buddhas with icons of increasing size: ten combine into one larger Buddha, a hundred into a larger one still, and a thousand into an even larger one. Image copying and sharing depend on your browser and device.

Sound & languages

Choose sound on or off before playing. Solemn electronic music and synthesized effects accompany each release.
